Busy Few Weeks for Mossley Hill

It’s been a busy few weeks with our runners competing in the Liverpool & District Cross Country Championship races at Arrowe Park, Sefton Park and Beacon Park. Thanks to everyone who competed, we managed to get a full team out in all three races, a special thanks to all those who competed in their first cross country race.
Whilst some of our runners were slogging through the mud and cold weather, we also had a group of runners who headed out to Benidorm and a sunnier climate to race in either the 10k or Half marathon.

Manchester Half Marathon

Well done to our runners who competed in the Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday 16th October.
Chris Iles, Dom Cooper, Bill Dawson, Colin Sefton and Rick Forster.
Kartrina Iles and Becky Sargeant

Princes Parkrun – Championship Race

Well done to our 13 runners who ran the Princes Parkrun as part of our Club championship race, they were as follows;

Dom Cooper, Guy Roberts, Allan Lawson, Chris McElroy, Alan Spinks, Ian Pinnington (new PB), John Shaw, Martin Rogers.

Julie Houghton, Cath Rigby(New PB), Viv Clague(New PB), Sarah Ng, Di Rogers

Lancaster 10k

Well done to our 24 runners who ran the race today and thank-you to our 11 supporters who turned out for us and dragged us up ‘that hill’ with their vocal encouragement.

Despite there being a major error on the course with the runners going off route and some completing over 11km, it didn’t dampen the spirits, with it being a very successful day for the club, both the Men (Ant Cassidy, Dom Cooper and Roy Hughes) and the Ladies (Julie Houghton, Becky Sargeant and Faye Brown) winning the team awards. We also had three individuals winning their age categories, Ant Cassidy MV40, Julie Houghton FV45, Mary McDonald FV70

I big thank-you to John Shaw who organised the meal at ‘The Mill at Conder Green’ , a great choice and excellent food and to Di Rogers for organising the coach, and of course thanks to the club for laying on the coach for free and paying for the main course.

Training

Whether you are a beginner or want to run a marathon you will be made most welcome. Many of our members don’t take part in competitive races and choose to run to get fit and have fun whilst meeting new people. Click here for more info about our training sessions.

Racing

Our members can choose to compete in races throughout the year. Our in-house club Championship is comprised of 20 races chosen at the beginning of each year by our club captain Tony Metcalfe. Take a look at the calendar to see the races in the Championship this year.

The club has in the past hired transport to encourage members to take part in races further afield.

Each year we also host our own race – the Sefton Park 5 miler. Our 2016 race will take place on Wednesday 13 July – 7:30pm. More details are available here
